All Month Traveling exhibit at Needles Branch Library, 1111 Bailey Avenue

Sunday, February 3 Bill Swan presented Water Wars: An Introduction to the Law of the River at Needles Branch Library

Monday, February 4 Derek Terry lead the Reading the River Book Discussion Series starting At 6 PM at the Needles Branch Library.  Books are currently available for checkout from the library.  Discussion series is Feb. 4, 11, and 18th.

Saturday, February 9 John Hohstadt guided a River Wetlands Botanical Walk 9 AM to 11 AM at Maggie McShan's on Needles Highway. The walk is at an easy pace.

Thursday, February 21 Presentation by Llwellyn Barrackman, Mojave Tribal Elder and Council Vice Chairman on the Mojave Indian Tribe, their culture, and history as it relates to the river.  Held at 6 PM at the City of Needles Recreation Center. 

Imperial Pioneers' Museum

The Moving Waters lectures for the Imperial County area were held at Pioneers' Museum, 373 E. Aten Road (corner of Highway 111 and Aten Road).  Imperial, California, on Thursday, March 7, Tuesday March 12, and Friday, March 22 from 6:30 -8:00 PM

Thursday, March 7 Traveling exhibit opened at the Pioneers' Museum

Thursday, March 7 6:30 to 8:30 PM lecture on "the River We Know" presented by Jack Simes , External Affairs Director of the Bureau of Reclamation

Thursday, March12 6:30 to 8:30 PM Bill Swan, Esq., legal consultant for the Imperial irrigation District,  presented a slide show and talk on "Water Wars: An Introduction to the Law of the River"

Friday, March 22 6:30 to 8:30 PM Carol Hann of Imperial Valley Community College presented "A Contemporary History of the Salton Sea"

Monday, April 1 Traveling exhibit opened San Diego Public Library.

Wednesday, April 3 The Ecosystem and the Delta panel discussion, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, featured David Hogan of the Center for Biological Diversity, Chris Harris from the Colorado River Board and David Czamanske of the Sierra Club, Stuart Hurlbert, professor of Biology San Diego State Discussion: Facilitated by Dr. Phillip Pryde, San Diego State University 6:30 - 8:00PM.

Saturday, April 6 Institutions & Politics of the Colorado River, 3rd  Floor Auditorium, featured Helen Ingram of the University of California at Irvine, 2:00 - 4:00 PM. 

Sunday, April 7 Cadillac Desert: Part OneBased on the book by Marc Reisner. Relates the story of the quest for water and the role it played in the transformation of the American West film showing and discussion with Theodore Strathman of UCSD History Dept, 3rd Floor Auditorium, 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

Wednesday, April 10 River We Know:Jack Simes of the Bureau Of Reclamation spoke on the state of the Colorado River in Yuma and Baja California, 3rd Floor Auditorium, 6:30 - 8:00 PM.

Tuesday, April 16 The Story of the Imperial Valley-San Diego Water Transfer panel discussion moderated by Peggy Strand with:David Hogan, Urban Wildlands Coordinator for the Center for Biological Diversity; David Czamanske, Sierra Club; Robert Campbell, Executive Assistant to the General Manager, County Water Authority; Gerald Zimmerman, Colorado River Board; Californians for Population Stabilization_TBA, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, 6:30 - 8:00PM.

Sunday, April 21 Chinatown movie showing, 3rd Floor Auditorium, In 1937, a Los Angeles private eye takes on a simple case and burrows into it until it leads to a murder and a public scandal ( based around the Owens Valley Water Scandal).Discussion: Theodore Strathman, Department of History/UCSD 2:00 PM.

Sunday, May 5th 2-4 PM 3rd floor auditorium. David N. Cassuto read from his book Dripping Dry: Literature, Politics and Water in the Desert Southwest, University of Michigan Press, 2001 and answered questions.
